An inner city suburb is set for a major facelift as part of several multimillion-dollar developments expected to start construction next year.

Development group TOGA has revealed the latest look at the plans for Wicks Place — a 272 apartment and boutique retail complex to support the wider revitalisation of Marrickville’s Victoria Rd Precinct.

The massive development at 169 Victoria Rd, expected to start construction next year, will provide links to village centres around King St, Newtown, Enmore and Marrickville Rd, according to TOGA chief executive, Fabrizia Perilli.

“At Wicks Place, we have drawn on Marrickville’s iconic industrial heritage and its strong culture to create a well-connected development for the community that enhances and celebrates the uniqueness of the area,” Mr Perilli said.

“Wicks Place will lead the rejuvenation of the wider Victoria Rd Precinct and enhance the residential character of the area, creating a vibrant neighbourhood for a modern urban lifestyle.”

He said the massive development would introduce new laneways, cycleways and community spaces, as well as new retailers to complement a bustling craft brewery, gin and coffee roasting scene in the inner west.

The TOGA development is forecast to include a range of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments with “extra-large terraces and green spaces”, while also having the ability to create four-bedroom apartments.

Work on Wicks Place comes just months after the Inner West Courier .

Danias Group chief, Angelo Angelopoulos, said the community he had “lived, worked and breathed” for 40 years was “going through a revival”.

“People are seeking out the area as a place that has culture, vibrancy, creative spaces and modern living opportunities,” he said.

“Marrickville continues to be one of Sydney’s most searched and sought-after suburbs for property buyers and we believe that this demand will continue to grow.”
